Vishudhi Chakra Mandala

Vishudhi mandala

The Vishuddhi Chakra is a circle shining as a full moon surrounded by sixteen petals.
It is symbol of purity, and purification. The moon encompasses psychic energy, clairvoyance and communication without words. In the fifth Chakra, all the elements of the lower chakras - earth, water, fire and air - are refined to their purest essence and dissolve into akasha.

Vishuddhi is associated with the faculty of higher discrimination, between choosing what is right and wrong, and it is associated with creativity and self-expression. It is known as the 'poison and nectar' centre, closely related to the bindu chakra, and the secret of immortality is said to reside there. When Vishuddhi is closed, we undergo decay and death. When it is open, negative experience is transformed into wisdom and learning.

In the middle we see the “node” where the energy is transmuted. On the physical level it correspond s to the sixteen main nadis of the energetic body that gather in the neck region.

What is a Mandala?

'Mandala' is of Hindu origin, the term being used for the books of the Rig Veda, but is also used in other religions such as Buddhism. In the Tibetan branch of Vajrayana Buddhism, mandalas have been developed into sandpainting. They are also a key part of anuttarayoga tantra meditation practices.

In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention as a spiritual teaching tool; for establishing a sacred space; and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. According to David Fontana, its symbolic nature can help one "to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the meditator to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the ultimate unity from which the cosmos in all its manifold forms arises."
